This is a temporary seasonal position for the summer.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs landscape maintenance in the district’s planted areas; works with trees, shrubs, ground covers and lawns.
- Performs fertilizing, trimming, pruning, watering and mowing. Maintains any sprinkler systems. Performs growing season activities such as edging, fertilization, seeding, aeration, plantings, watering, application of sod, and mowing.
- Maintains the district grounds in a manner that will project a positive aesthetic image in the community.
- Ensures the district grounds are a safe instructional environment.
- Uses proper safety precautions in the daily performance of tasks.
- Cleans all grounds equipment and assists in the mechanical maintenance of the same.
- Follows written work schedules as approved by the Director of Buildings and Grounds or his/her designee.
- Assists with snow plowing and snow blowing within the entire district.
- Transports furniture and equipment between schools for activities, as directed by the Director of Buildings and Grounds or designee.
- Performs hole and crack repairs to parking lot, sidewalks and playgrounds and performs striping of parking lanes, curbs and specialty zones as required.
- Maintains exterior signage in accordance with District 200 policy and procedures and with the Department of Transportation.
- Stores all seasonal equipment properly, and lays up outside hoses, irrigation systems and other concerns to prevent winter freeze damage.
- Operates and performs routine maintenance on a wide variety of landscaping equipment, including but not limited to: pickup trucks, dump trucks, tractors, loaders, chainsaws, edgers, sod cutters, pruners, riding and push mowers and spraying equipment.
- Guards property against fire, theft and illegal entry.
- Assumes responsibility for the proper use and caretaking of all grounds supplies and equipment; maintains a system of stock control of all supplies.
- Maintains preventive maintenance logs and other records as required, including herbicide application logs and records.
- Informs the Director of Buildings and Grounds of facilities or incidents requiring action, and follows up with him/her when such problems have or have not been satisfactorily completed.
- Protects the confidentiality of district and office records and information unless authorized and directed by their supervisor to provide same when requested under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.
- Protects the confidentiality of student records and information according to Board of Education policy and regulations, Illinois Student Records Act and the Family Education and Privacy Act
